This section is for anyone supporting a child who is struggling at home. Whether the challenges come from friendships, school, or family life, the insights here will help you see behavior in a new way—so you can respond differently and more effectively.
Once you understand the key puzzle pieces behind why behavior happens, it becomes easier to know what to do next. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs, and it can often feel isolating—like no one else truly understands what you’re going through.
But you’re not alone, and there is hope.
I continue to learn every day despite doing this for 20 years.
I'm not saying that everything you need is on this site.
It is my clinical practice and school-based consulting firm all in one place.
This site is my attempt to reach more people, to help more kids and more families.
It is what I have put together for clients and schools but also it is a place to find more resources.
I hope some of what is here gives you a different way to see your child,
maybe even reassurance that you are not alone.
Every child is amazing- they are all here with a purpose,
but this is a journey, and we are only a guide.
To find the Secret to Happy we have to know about the puzzle pieces that impact behavior every day... then we need to know where to start.
This is a start.
Whether this child is 3 or 23, your perspective is critical.
You have the ability to help your child figure out the various puzzle pieces that make up HAPPY.
It doesn't matter if you are a full-time working parent, a teacher, or a friend.
It takes ONE person to see your child differently.
There is a purpose, even some goodness, in the struggle.
If you can spin your thinking like this, you WILL find happy.
Your perception and expectations for a child are based on your wiring and previous experiences.
Helping a child find HAPPY will need to consider why you think as you do.
It is just as important to recognize YOUR wiring and threshold needs so that your responses during a moment of stress can be supportive and positive.
Self-care is critical for both parents and kids so take care of YOU. Then once you feel strong, talk with your child about what THEY think is going on.
Parenting is a journey best shared. When challenges arise, connecting with other parents and gaining practical tools can make all the difference. As a member, you’ll have access to a supportive community, live support sessions, in-depth presentation videos, and downloadable resources—all designed to help you navigate this path with confidence.
